Firmly grounded in a combined framework of scientifically sound research findings with authentic and purposeful reading and writing practices, Catskill Literacies takes an advocacy-based stance when working with learners. Each youngster brings unique strengths, knowledge, and experiences to learning. One size [of learning] does not fit all. The goal is to create lifelong lovers of reading and writing, which goes beyond test scores and reading levels. Proficiency is developed through targeted practice and an understanding that the language processes of reading and writing are all about making meaning of our world.

1:1 literacy tutoring grades k-12 (in person)
Personalized one-on-one literacy tutoring tailored to meet the unique needs and strengths of each student. Our sessions focus on building foundational skills, enhancing reading comprehension, and fostering a love for reading and writing.
Homeschooling literacy support (individual or small group)
Comprehensive literacy support for homeschooling families, available for individual students or small groups. We provide customized lesson plans and engaging activities designed to align with your homeschooling goals and curriculum.
Reading Assessment, Report Writing & Instruction
In-depth reading assessments to identify strengths and areas for improvement. We provide detailed reports and targeted instructional plans to help students achieve their reading goals and enhance their literacy skills.
IEP review/consultation
Expert review and consultation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to ensure they effectively address the literacy needs of students with learning differences. We offer recommendations and strategies to support academic success.
Parent/Guardian Consultation
Consultations with parents and guardians to discuss their child's literacy development. We provide guidance, resources, and strategies to support reading and writing at home, fostering a collaborative approach to learning.
Student workshops (during the year)
Engaging and interactive workshops designed for students, focusing on various aspects of literacy, such as creative writing, reading comprehension, and study skills. These workshops aim to inspire and motivate students to become confident readers and writers.
Parent workshops/presentations (during the year)
Informative workshops and presentations for parents, covering topics such as supporting literacy at home, understanding reading development, and navigating educational resources. These sessions empower parents to effectively support their child's literacy journey.
ELA Regents Prep * (requirement may change after 11/2024)
Targeted preparation for the English Language Arts (ELA) Regents exam, helping students develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed. Our prep sessions focus on exam strategies, critical reading, and effective writing techniques.
